Last Saturday, the Arnolfini hosted the prizegiving for this year’s Bristol Short Story Prize. I was honoured, flattered, surprised and dancing like a little girl when I heard that my story The Swimmer had made it into the Top 20 and therefore into this year’s Bristol Prize anthology. Anything else was a bonus: fortunately that bonus came in the form of some great feedback from people involved in judging the competition and some fine new friends amongst the other writers who attended the event.
The anthology – featuring 20 short stories – is now on sale at the Arnolfini bookshop. You can also find it on the Waterstones’ website here and, I believe, at Waterstones in Bristol. You can also buy a copy from the Bristol Prize website – http://www.bristolprize.co.uk/shop/volume-5.html. At £10, that’s only 50p per story which is beyond ridiculously good value.
Thanks to the Bristol Prize for making this writer very happy!
